Quotes about Desires

A favorite verse of Scripture says it best and most succinctly : Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). This doesn't mean that He's necessarily giving you what you want, but rather that He is in the process of transforming your soul to desire what He wants.

What's great now is that I know that Jesus trumps our desires. Jesus opens up a story for us that fulfills (and exceeds) our heart's desire if we delight in him. Jesus doesn't cram us into preset molds; he molds us for God-birthed purposes.

The spiral begins this way: a temptation or thought that's not from God comes into your mind. Stop right there. Identify that reality. If a harmful thought enters your mind, it's not from God. We must be awakened to this. Those thoughts are from the Enemy, who often uses our own desires against us.

Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:3—5)

The reality is, when someone knows the truth, knows the will of God, knows what God has spoken , and yet pushes back and doesn't obey, it is idolatry . The reason? Their will, agenda, wishes, and desires have been placed above God's. All of these things come before Him, and an idol.

When you live for the will of God, you will not fulfill the desires of men. As a result, you will suffer in the flesh.
