It is a misnomer to call a government republican in which a branch of the supreme power is independent of the nation.

Government implies the power of making laws. It is essential to the idea of a law, that it be attended with a sanction; or, in other words, a penalty or punishment for disobedience.

Power always brings with it responsibility.

Frequently people just vote for the party out of power because they're disappointed or angry at what is happening at the moment.
